England comes up with a win this year

The Annual ADA vs. England match was held this past month in Sterling Virginia at Mighty Mike’s Bar and Grill on Saturday, June 7th. Across the pond the venue was The Volunteer, Abington Square, Northampton, England.

This yearly Skype challenge has 12 members from team England pitted against Team ADA in a Steel Tip match best of 16 games. The scoring system is as follows: 2 points for a 2-0 win to the winner, none to the loser; 2 points for a 2-1 win to the winner, 1 point to the loser. In the event of a draw after all 16 legs, sudden death playoff with each team nominating one player to play a single leg of 501 for 1 point. This challenge has been going on between the two countries since 1982.

To kick off the start event and determine the Home Team, two members from each team, Holly Dye for USA and Melynda Stewart from England competed in a 9 dart high score challenge. Mel defeated Holly 186 – 79. England to start!

From the first dart to the last, both sides fought well but England managed to squeaks out a win over USA 22 – 18. “Team ADA pushed us all the way and what a great finale. Your team performed really well!” comments England Team Captain Jeff Billingham.
