2014 Missouri Senior Olympics hitting the Mark

Columbia, St. Louis / Blueberry Hill / Silver Games – Sullivan September 2014

Every year, hundreds of Senior citizens gather throughout the Show Me State to compete in various activities at the Missouri State Senior Games. For the past 15 years, the American Darters Association has had the pleasure of supporting the Missouri State Senior Games by running the High Score dart events.

The dart event has participants compete in a game of High Score. They have 8 rounds (24 darts) to aim for the highest score per their age brackets:
50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74; 75-79; 80-84; 85-89; 90-94; 95-99 and 100+. The Male and Female brackets are separate. Each senior is allowed 3 – 6 darts for warm up before they toe the throw line and begin their quest for the Dart Challenge Gold Medal! Awards are given out for first, second and third place.

Memorial Day weekend, the St. Louis Senior Olympics took place in one of the city’s finest landmarks; Blueberry Hill. This restaurant / bar / entertainment venue is located on Delmar in the St. Louis neighborhood called the Loop. Ed True was one of the high score winners of the day with a score of 208 in his 80 – 84 age bracket.

The following month, the ADA staff traveled west on Interstate 70 to the Hearne’s Center in Columbia, Missouri for another Missouri Senior Game weekend. This event was held on June 21st. High Scores of the weekend: 467 Scott Schwartz for the Men’s and 417 Terry Basler.

We thank ALL Senior participants who came out and competed in the High Score dart event! We also want to give some honorable mentions / shout outs to the familiar faces of competitors: Lois Vollmer (St. Louis), Loretta Hopgood (St. Louis), Dennis Squires (St. Charles), and William Cannon (Ballwin).

The Missouri Senior Games is a very special event for the senior participants but also for the ADA Home Office staff. We always look forward to volunteering our time for these events and it is such a pleasure seeing the same participants return back year after year. We would like to thank the organizers and the locations for having the ADA part of the Senior Games! We look forward to the Franklin County Missouri Silver Games later this fall!

See you on the boards next year!
